Position Overview: As a Senior Accountant, you’ll play a key leadership role on our Finance team, ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and compliance of our financial systems and reports. From managing month-end close to supporting grant budgeting and audits, your work will help us maintain financial strength and accountability across our agency.
What You’ll Do:
- Lead and support the monthly close process, ensuring accurate and timely reconciliations and journal entries.
- Review and post financial transactions and journal entries prepared by others.
- Assist in preparing and reviewing grant budgets and financial reports.
- Analyze monthly financial results for both LCFS and its Foundation, identifying trends and variances.
- Ensure all accounting entries are properly coded and allocated based on cost methodologies.
- Support annual financial processes such as audits, 990 filings, and state reporting (e.g., E-1, cost reports, petty cash audits).
- Help evaluate and implement new finance technologies and process improvements.
- Write and maintain internal SOPs to ensure consistency, accuracy, and compliance.
- Provide backup support in AP, AR, and other accounting functions as needed.
- Collaborate with leadership and program staff to ensure financial procedures are followed and understood.
- Participate in cross-training and team-based financial problem solving.
- Contribute to continuous improvement efforts and support a high-functioning Finance team.
What You Bring to the Table:
- Strong understanding of GAAP, financial reporting, and accounting best practices.
- Ability to analyze complex financial data and provide clear, actionable insights.
- High level of accuracy, organization, and attention to detail.
- Strong time management and ability to prioritize competing deadlines.
- Comfortable working independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Above-average proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with MIP Fund Accounting and Blackbaud eTapestry is a plus.
What You Need to Apply:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 4–6 years of progressive experience in corporate or nonprofit accounting.
- Experience in electronic payment processing and software integrations preferred.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and professionalism.
- Valid Indiana Driver’s License and clean driving record.
