Position Overview:
As a Sharing Place Associate, you’ll play a vital role in supporting daily food pantry operations by ensuring shelves are stocked, volunteers are supported, and the pantry remains a clean, safe, and welcoming space for all. From food handling to inventory to creating a smooth experience for clients and volunteers, your work helps us serve our community with dignity and care.
What You'll Do:
- Receive and unload food deliveries and ensure products are sorted and stored correctly.
- Stock pantry shelves, rotate inventory using FIFO (First In, First Out), and dispose of expired or damaged items.
- Monitor and track inventory levels for both Sharing Place and Silver Box.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in all pantry areas, including coolers, freezers, workspaces, and storage rooms.
- Assist during pantry distribution hours, organizing food layouts and portioning items appropriately based on family size.
- Create a welcoming, respectful flow for clients receiving services.
- Support and guide volunteers in collaboration with the Volunteer Coordinator.
- Report any volunteer needs, concerns, or wins to the Volunteer Coordinator.
- Pitch in where needed — every day may look a little different!
What You Bring to the Table:
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Friendly and respectful communication style — great with volunteers, clients, and staff.
- Physical ability to lift 50 lbs and push/pull loads up to 100 lbs.
- Previous experience in warehouse, retail, or pantry environments is a plus.
- Ability to work independently and follow through on tasks.
- Comfort using manual and electric pallet jacks.
- Basic math and reasoning skills.
- Bilingual abilities are a bonus, but not required.
What You Need to Apply:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Must be at least 21 years old.
- Valid Indiana Driver’s License and proof of auto insurance.
- Clean driving record and ability to pass background checks.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
